This elegant Windrush Fine Bone China Mug is part of the Victoria and Albert Museum range. Perfect as a gift, the fine bone china mug comes presented in a matching Windrush printed presentation box. Each of the Victoria and Albert Museum items has been interpreted using original material to create strong commerical surface patterns taken from the archives of the Victoria and Albert Museum. Inspiration has been drawn from various sources including traditional William Morris wallpapers, exotic far eastern silks and various rare and distinctive artefacts. In 1866 the first director of the V&A, Sir Henry cole, commissioned the then relatively unknown Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. to design 'The Green Dining Room' at the V&A and brought the designs of reformer William Morris (1834-1896) to the attention of the British public. This range is developed from Morris & Co's. fresh patterns and flat, naturalstic flower and foliage designs, held in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum.
